Welcome to the Campaign Chronicles!

The campaign of 2006 /2007 was fast, eventful and successful. Eleven months of fierce campaigning which ended with the resignation of the Local Health Board Chief Executive and a new commitment by the Welsh Assembly to halt all planned Hospital closures.
Save Powys Hospitals was launched to counter the proposals from the then Powys Local Health Board contained in their document "Doing More, Doing Better". These proposals threatened the viability of 4 community hospitals in Powys - Bronllys, Builth Wells, Llanidloes and Knighton.

Action Groups were formed in the four threatened localities and by autumn 2006 active campaigning was underway.

This website was set up to provide a link between the campaign groups and ensure fast sharing of information and news. At it's height it received over a hundred new visitors per day. The site now chronicles that eventful campaign, acting as a tribute to all those who fought to save their local health care facilities.
All our community hospitals remain open.
Builth Hospital could be replaced by a modern Healthcare facility in 2012.
SPH continues to watch developments closely...
